課程概述

當代全球化的過程影響深遠，規模廣大，牽扯多重面向並跨越各種尺度。本課程旨在引介全球化文化與社會再現的核心議題、理論概念、分析框架與研究趨勢，關注全球資本主義自1980年代以來與都市生活、都會主義、科技發展、人口流動、社會變遷以及倫理正義之間千絲萬縷的關連。所選之教材皆為近年全球化研究深具代表性之經典文獻。上課內容以主題分為四單元，分別為1）理論簡介2）人口流動與公民權3）人造環境與日常生活4）反全球化。學生將透過專題演講、課堂講授、口頭報告與上課討論等方式學習如何以跨國語境、多重觀點、跨學科領域的研究方法來理解分析進而反思全球化的不同面向。

課程要求

1. Each student will be required to give oral presentations. The oral presenter has a minimum of 15 minutes for each presentation.
2. A two-page description of an idea for a term paper including bibliography is due by 5/14.
3. A term paper (15,000-20,000 words) should be submitted by the end of the semester.
4. Students are required to submit weekly reflective responses before each session.
5. No more than one absence will be excused except under special circumstances. Chronic lateness should be avoided.
